WINTER BREAK/FAMILY DAY: KID & FAMILY FRIENDLY THINGS TO DO

  February 16, 2017

Family Day Regina 2017 | Regina Events | Family Events

FAMILY DAY

Family Day is meant to be a day for family to spend time together. That’s why there's no school, no work, and no structured activities. It seems families can get so busy, often having to split time between kids to take them each to their respective activities, that it leaves little time just sit together and catch up. A couple events to mention where you can get back some of that much needed family time:

> Did you know February 18-20 is FREE ICE FISHING? This is a great time to introduce your family to fishing!

> Sunday, February 19 is ‘ARCTIC ADVENTURES’ at the RCMP Heritage Centre. There will be a ton of family friendly activities such as snow shoeing, archery, mock ice fishing and more!

> WASKIMO, an event that has not been held in Regina since 2003! Waskimo is back on Monday, February 20. There will be indoor and outdoor family fun! Register a team for the 'Hole-ympics'.....yup, that's right, OUTHOUSE RACES!

> Monday, February 20 there wil be storytelling and movies at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum.

LOOKING FOR UNSTRUCTURED ENTERTAINMENT?

If you are not looking for structure, and just want to have some fun, there are a ton of things to do right here in Regina, Saskatchewan:

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES - Toboganning, Skating, Skiing, Snow Shoeing at various places around Regina. Or, at home, in your own backyard, plan a snowball fight, build a snowman, build a fire and roast marshmallows or sit outside with some hot chocolate and look at the stars (weather permitting, of course)!

INDOOR ACTIVITIES - Royal Saskatchewan Museum, Golden Mile Bowling, Indoor Play structure at the YMCA, Tours of Regina’s Stone Hal Castle; plan a 'Staycation' at a hotel for some watersliding! Or, stay home and spend some time together baking, cooking, building forts, watching movies and eating popcorn, reading, and maybe get a head start on the dreaded.........SPRING CLEANING!

Whatever you decide to do on Family Day, and over the break, we hope it is full of love, laughter and lasting memories!
