St. Catherine Community School is located in the Glencairn area in East Regina. We offer Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten to Grade Eight.
At St. Catherine Community School we strive to offer a quality education with some enhanced programs.
All of our students participate in the Accelerated Reading program. Our students earn points for the books they have read. We have individual AR points club certificate presentations every two weeks. Our students are also on AR teams and earn points for their teams through their reading and test taking skills.
To facilitate our literacy goal, every child from grade one to grade eight is placed in a small guided reading group based on their reading level. Another strategy to promote literacy is our DEAR program in which every classroom in the school reads silently at the same time every day.
Reading nights help to promote our goal of literacy. One night each month our families are invited into the school for an evening of reading, relationships, and snacks.
For extra curricular opportunities, our students can be involved with choir, improv, safety patrol, athletic teams, an SRC, a musical, girl's club, after school club, a sketching group, a social justice group, and a hip hop group.
We are an In-Motion school. Our students receive a high-quality physical education program.
As a community school we have a nutrition program. Our students receive breakfast and lunch when needed. Snacks are provided every morning. Our classes are able to participate in food experience opportunities. Our senior students also run a "Corner Canteen". The canteen operates daily by selling nutritious supplements to regular lunches, including milk. The Corner Canteen also offers a hot lunch every Wednesday.
