New Paddlers:

Learn To Paddle: Our Learn to Paddle Camps teach all the basic skills and abilities to join into the larger Wascana Racing program or to jump in the family canoe at the cottage. Each camp will end with a fun regatta where they can show off all the new skills with their canoe club buddies. Camps are for paddlers born in 2004 - 2009. Paddlers will spend the first half of the camp learning the basics but then in the second half will start to join with the more experianced paddlers who they will be thier partners at the end of camp regatta.

Wascana Racing Canoe Club Summer Programs and Camps

Pre-requisites: Although no paddling experience is required, participants must have a minimum swim competency. If asked to demonstrate swim ability the paddlers must be able to tread water for 1.5 minutes, stay afloat for 5 minutes without assistance, swim 50 metres (any stroke any speed) without a lifejacket or other flotation device.

We can not stress enough the risk of putting non-swimmers on the water, it not only presents a risk to the participant but for staff and other participants as well. If you are unsure of the ability to meet the minimum swim ability we encourage you to visit a local pool were there is a lifeguard on-duty and try it out.

* All U15 participants must wear life jackets or PFDs any time they are on the water*
