The school offers a community life among the classrooms that allows students and families to be secure that their child’s needs are being met in a safe environment that can address their child’s individual needs and that assistive technology, alternative communication needs, sensory needs and independence skills are promoted for every child.

 

The school serves as a training agency for students from the Nursing program at SIAST and various other programs from SIAST. Wascana Rehabilitation Centre has an outreach program at the school to offer assistance to the staff and parents and therapy programs to the students. The students also take part in programs for students who are learning adaptive skills training, massage therapy and Christian ethics training.

 

The curriculum is tailored for the individual needs of the students. Students here are involved in the school life of St. Augustine School as it is located within the St. Augustine school site. The students of Jean Vanier take part in many joint activities with St. Augustine students as well as integrated activities when appropriate.
 

Students at the high school level integrate with other high schools. The needs of the students determine the amount and kind of integration and therefore it varies from year to year. The students at all Catholic High Schools in Regina participate in a volunteer swim program with Jean Vanier School.
