BABYSITTER/HOME ALONE COURSE

BABYSITTER'S COURSE

FACT OR FICTION: "I don't need training to take care of kids, it's an easy job" The answer is FICTION. There are many things that can happen while taking care of a child.

This course is recommended for children age 11 and older who are interested in taking responsibility for younger children. Courses include Basic First Aid and introduction to CPR training, child care basics, safety practices and activities to keep children occupied. HOME ALONE

The Home Alone Course specializes in helping children identify what responsibilities they have while being home alone, understanding the basics of First Aid procedures and demonstrate what to do in case of an emergency, plus how and when to call 911. A class designed to provide children ages 10-14 years with the necessary skills and knowledge to be safe and responsible when home alone for short periods of time. PET FIRST AID

Pet First Aid is an introductory program that provides life-saving training, which encourages safety in emergency situations and prepares rescuers to respond to life-threatening
emergencies for domestic animals.

PERSONAL CARE WORKER

The Personal Care Worker (PCW) Course is useful to anyone who has to provide support for elderly or infirm residents. There is not prerequisite for the course, althought, first aid trainig is recommended.

MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID

Mental Health First Aid is the help provided to a person developing a mental health problem, or experiencing a mental health crisis. Click here for details.

BOATING SAFETY/PLEASURE CRAFT OPERATOR CARD (PCOC)

We are an authorized test centre for receiving your Transport Canada Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC). St. John Ambulance is pleased to partner with freecourse.ca to keep you safe on the waters. Simply study the course online at www.freecourse.ca and write the test at your local testing centre. Please contact your local SJA office for more information.

• To Transfer to another date a $20.00 transfer fee will be charged. Advance notice is required if you need to transfer.
• A $25.00 cancellation fee if notified within 7 business days in advance of any course. Requests after this time are not eligible for a refund. If you do not show up you are not eligible for a refund or transfer.
• It is student’s responsibility to arrange for refund and original receipt MUST also be returned in order to receive a refund.
• If the student received a workbook it must be returned in good condition and unmarked prior to receiving the refund. If the workbook is damaged the cost of the workbook plus taxes will be held back from the refund amount.
• Refunds will be issued in the form of a cheque by our Provincial Office, upon their approval, and may take 3-4 weeks to process.
