Jean Vanier School accommodates students with significant intensive needs. Children are educated in a community of classrooms that address the communication, functional academics, life skills, self-care needs, and medical needs of their children. The school integrates students in both elementary and high school programs as students’ needs allow. Assistive technology, alternative communication resources, a sensory room and a focus on independence are emphasized.

Curricula for each child is individualized. Students are involved in some aspects of St. Augustine school life. The students of Jean Vanier take part in many joint activities with St. Augustine students. Wascana Rehabilitation Centre has an outreach program at the school to offer assistance to some students.

Students at the high school level integrate with other high school students. The needs of the students determine the amount and kind of integration. Students at all Catholic High Schools in Regina participate in a volunteer swim program with Jean Vanier School.
